Astrolabe is an elaborate inclinometer used by astronomers to locate positions of planets and stars, and to determine local time.
This is an astrolabe made by Ibrahim al-Suhaili in Toledo in August 1068 engraved with Arabic letters. The star map on the astrolabe’s front side has pointers showing the position of 28 stars. The circle divided into the 12 zodiacal divisions shows the course of the sun during the year.
